It's all well and good to be present, to be aware and have the mind quieted, looking. But since the intent of making a photograph includes sharing, I really try for more than just tricks or gorgeous surfaces, or recording evidence.

I scour my surroundings for stories. This one is a story because it was outside an Irish pub on a Sunday morning. Detritus of reverie. But it was more. It was startlingly beautiful with it's deep earth brown and blackness against that broad-stroked blue-green canvas of a wall. And it was trash, rudely and thoughtlessly left by some soused afficionado. It was so serene lying there, discarded.
